This is a one of a kind darbuka doumbek drum from Greece. This clay/ ceramic drum has a fixed lamb skin hide head, and is hand painted by Savvas. Included with this darbuka drum is awarming lamp for the head, and a padded nylon case. (For extra drum protection, we recommend case NCCL, found in the related product to the right).

This is one of Savvas custom painted darbuka Solo models. Each is completely unique, as he will not create the exact same design on another drum. This incredible darbuka was thrown on the potter's wheel, then fired in a kiln (oven for ceramics), to a perfect hardness to ensure durability and lasting quality, as well as the perfect mix of local clay bodies and firing temperature to achieve the tone that is the trademark sound of the Greek darbuka. The darbuka is then fitted with a lamb skin head. This natural head has a smooth feel and nice response, allowing for sharp ceramic sounding tek, pop and slap tones. The doums are warm and full.

As all natural headed drums are affected by the weather and humidity conditions, a warming lamp is provided to allow you to gently tighten the head to the desired pitch. The lamp simply installs into the darbuka's base, and can be kept in while playing.
