KleoDrums Davul D2
Played throughout the Peloponnesian peninsula and mainland Greece and also on many Aegean islands. This is a hand made double-sided barrel drum, from KleoDrums in Athens, Greece. This smaller model is often referred to as a Toumbi on the island of Crete.
One of the goat heads on this drum is thicker than the other, producing a deeper tone. Played as a Davul or Tabl Baladi, the head of the drum is struck with a thicker knob ended stick. The higher pitched side is swatted with a thin "vitsa". Both of these sticks are provided with the drum. The drum barrel is constructed from layers of solid birch wood. The drum is tunable, please refer to the YouTube video (click on the tab to the right) to see how to tune this drum.
