This Egyptian riq is fitted with a real fixed fish skin head. This brand new riq was completely refurbished at Global Musical Instruments. It started as a tunable type riq, with tuning brackets and a clear plastic head. The wood frame of this riqq was first stripped of the tuning system, then the tuning bracket holes were filled with wood filler. The wood riqq was then completely sanded down. The riq was then re-painted gold and sealed, and re-fitted with upgraded heavier nickeled brass zills / jingles. Finally, the genuine Nile perch fish skin from Egypt was stretched and fixed to the riq top. This type of natural head provides the genuine sound that purists seek.
Padded nylon zippered case is included.
