This intimate contact with the drum shell produces a unique, pronounced doum, bass tones and bright tek tones.
Traditional doumbek shells are made from metal, clay, or fired ceramic. The Remo Ergo Soloist Doumbek shell combines the hardness and feel of a ceramic bearing edge with the warmth of a baked clay doumbek shell into one using the Acousticon drum shell material which is lightweight and durable.
In development for two years, this Remo Ergo Soloist Doumbek has a newly designed drum shell, unlike any other in the family of Doumbeks, which has a unique Metalized® finish. The Remo Ergo Soloist Doumbek with the external tuning design is unique and can be played in the traditional horizontal position as well between the knees which is supported by the external counter hoop.
The Ergo-Drum System products are constructed under the highest quality control guidelines. Our counterhoops (rims) are perfectly indexed; matching screws and screw holes, insuring bolts won’t strip after multiple drumhead changes. Remo’s drum shell bearing edges are evenly rounded, smooth for maximum tuning range.

Price Value Quality I bought it november 2011 & amazing Darbuka.
I do agree with comments by Hank RAAB that helps me to decide to get it(Very powerful doum louder than GEF soumbati , very easy/comfortable to play: fingers seems to slide on it :P & need little bang to make powerful doums:)...different doum than the 10" internal REMO, both poweful doum)
I enjoy very much the weight of this Darbuka, Iused it as a travel Darbuka with a strap attached to it:you can practice any time :)
The Remo's doumbek must have for every Darbuka player(can buy it closed eyes).
I owe 8" Crystal doumbek, 10" Remo internal, Alexandria Gawaret el fan Darbuka (regular one & New generation) one , Gawaret el fan sombati New generation and the 9" REMO External is rank 1st among all of them.

Quality Price Value I bought this Doumbek back in Late June and it is great!
The sound in awesome. Great Tek's, Ka's and very a deep bass doum - sounds more like a 10/11" doumbek due to the design of the Drum.
I love it!
