Remo Kanjira, key-tuned, 7" Antique ~ feels like a real lizard skin head, and plays and sounds like a traditional kanjira!
The original Indian kanjiras were made using the skin of the endangered Monitor Lizard. Remo’s synthetic Skyndeep lizard-graphic drumhead is an ecological solution to this problem. For its tunable kanjira, Remo fixes the new Skyndeep lizard-graphic drumhead to an Acousticon shell. There is a 30-degree radial bearing edge. The frame of the kanjira is finished with a dark stain veneer, giving the drum an elegant and traditional antique look. Due to its cutting edge technologies, Remo makes use of proprietary materials that enable kanjira players to bend and modulate the pitch exactly like the original. The advantage is that this kanjira will not be affected by changes in climate. The Antique finished Remo Kanjira can be tuned easily by inserting the provided 5/64” hex key into a recessed key hole and rotating the key in small increments to achieve the desired low pitch. The 2 3/8” depth x 7” diameter Kanjira fits comfortably in the player’s hands. There is a 1" flat jingle set to produce a dry tone with short decay.
