Remo Tar-Rine, 12", Layne Redmond ~ A combination of the tar and tambourine!
This versatile tambourine frame drum blends the sound of the traditional North African tar and the tambourine. The Remo Tar-Rine accommodates many drumming techniques. The frame drum can be played like a tar, as a tambourine, or held and played traditionally as a riq. It can also be played using the lap technique. The Remo Tar-Rine has ten sets of two rows of quality German silver tambourine sized jingles, arranged in five double rows. The dimensions of the Remo Tar-Rine are 2-5/8" deep by 12" wide. It features a fixed Renaissance head, which produces a perfect amount of overtones with nice resonance and sustain. This synthetic head has a slight texture and is translucent. This is responsive head does not sacrifice the warmth in it's tonal color.
The Remo Tar-Rine was designed by world renowned frame drummer, performer, artist and teacher Layne Redmond. This frame drum can fill a multitude of needs, due to it's variety of great sounds and allowable playing techniques. The larger frame diameter is similar to the tar frame drum and features five double rows of heavy gauge German silver jingles / cymbals that produce a commanding, vibrant sound.
