Description:	Dholak, Deluxe, Cord and Ring Approximate measurements of this great dholak are 7 inch tenor head, 9 inch base head, and 16-17 inches long. Deluxe, wooden two-headed dholak. The dholak heads held in place and tuned by cords and rings. Held horizontally, both heads on the dholak are played. In India, these extremely popular percussion instruments are commonly used in folk music and during marriage ceremonies. The dholak shells are manufactured in the northern Indian State of Uttar Pradesh. There locally grown neem and rosewood are used. After transporting to Mumbai the goat skin heads are fitted to the dholak drum shells with traditional leather cords.
